Deadlock - Deadbolts
Deadbolts are also another type of deadlock, If your insurance
supplier ask you " Are your locks double locking" they are
referring to
locks that are locked from the inside once activated, such as the locks
below with double key cylinders. This type of lock also comes in single
sided locks, single sided deadbolts are still a deadbolt, but are not
classified as double locking, as the inside is always free to turn to open.
Deadbolts are not acceptable for fire rated unit front doors. Installing
a deadbolt on a unit front door will only lead to more expensive
exercise once the fire inspection people ask you to remove it and
replace it with a deadlock - Deadlatch as listed above. The deadbolt is a
very strong lock for domestic and commercial applications. Once the
solid bolt is t "locked" it can not be forced back with a credit card or
screw driver, hence the name deadbolt. Below are examples of
