Car Keys

Car keys have evolved over the past 15 years; they are not the little piece of metal with sharp edges on both sides anymore!

Today’s car keys are a complex piece of computer equipment sending out a rolling code and communicating with a computer when in range, not to mention charging the key to be able to send its next transmission.

There is nothing standard or normal when it comes to car keys these days, Some locksmiths in Sydney think that the car manufactures are trying to send locksmiths insane, bringing out technology they normally is reserve for space flight 11 with the astronaut mission to the moon to look for life. It’s true the amount of technology that has been adapted into the car key is crazy and off the scale.

Car keys for any car built in the past 15 years needs to be programmed into the car, the cars computer must accept the key and recognise before that key that can work on the system. Before that can happen the key must be made and cut like a traditional car key. This is the process you would usually expect a locksmith to do. 

To make a key for a car lock it means locks must be removed and the key cut to be able to turn  the lock.

Once the locksmiths work has been performed, your standard locksmith then throws on his superman outfit and becomes a…..  Super computer programmer with tools to flash any computer chip in the middle of the night with zero gravity.

It’s true the jump from a car key to a computer car key is huge and our expectations on a locksmith has increased,.

As a key user most people would not understand how a computer works with their key.

In the event of losing your only car key a lot of people do find it hard to believe the amount of work and cost  that is involved in getting their car operational again.

The truth is you need years of experience to be able to make good quality car keys; you need even more years to be able to find faults and be able to rectify all problems.
