Car Key Transponder Chip
Since 1995 almost all cars on the road today use a transponder chip. This transponder chip is located in the head of the car key and communicates with the car's computer to authorize the starting of the car. If the car does not recognize a registered transponder the car will not start. Each transponder is different and the correct transponder needs to be matched to the car's model. The car will have to be programmed to accept the new transponder by using diagnostic equipment, or onboard programming procedures.
